Paris Hilton is to be tagged with an alarm to protect her from fellow prison inmates.
The hotel heiress will be provided with a panic device giving her a 24-hour link to prison guards in case she encounters trouble when she begins her prison sentence next month, according to Britain's The Sun newspaper.
Hilton must report to Century Regional Detention Centre in Los Angeles by June 5 after she was found guilty of driving with a suspended licence.
As well as being tagged with an alarm 'The Simple Life' star will be kept in the prison's 'special needs' unit, which is reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates.
The 26-year-old has made it known she is "really scared" by the prospect of going to jail.
Her sentence has already been cut from 45 to 23 days for "good behaviour," despite the fact that she has yet to begin serving it.
Hilton's mother Kathy called her daughter's imprisonment "horrendous."

i think its crap i mean if it was anyone else they wouldn't have gotten all those luxeries. there should be no exceptions and i think its funny that they're making such a big deal out of it like no one else has ever been to jail and its not like shes roughing it. they're pathetic i knew she'd get it easy.
Reply:BULLSHIT
Reply:oh, heaven forbid!! a celebrity actually having to do time for a crime... *faints at the insanity*
Reply:I hope that's a two devices in one thing, where they can also shock her if she gives the other inmates any trouble. Or just for the hell of it.
Reply:drunk driving kills
Reply:Please do go on with this sad story, let me turn up the violin music.
Reply:That's not right. Jails are supposed to be scary. If being a celebrity puts her in an extra danger, she should've taken her actions with more care. That is just a downside of her being so well known.
Reply:I thought she was going to be separated from the prison population. Her mother calls it "horrendous"? In court she was cheering about it! she's as goofy as her kid is. They're letting her out early because they figure that's about all they can take of her and I'll bet she ends up serving less than two weeks.
Reply:I doubt very much if she spends any time at all in jail.
Reply:My opinion: She's going to jail because she deserves it. The Special Needs unit is understandable because she'll be singled out by fellow inmates, and though I think that she's a worthless contributor to society, she doesn't deserve to get killed for violating court order. The "Good behavior" thing is ridiculous because that isn't given to everyone in the same situation and was just a pressured judge's way around admitting it was because she's rich and a "celebrity". The "Life-Alert" alarm system won't keep any other inmate from doing what they want to do. Some people work that way and even a 5 second response time is time enough to get shanked or knocked out.
